Fit Mama Friday: A special poem to wrap up the year

Fit Mama Friday - A Year in Review, on Fine Fit Day

‘Twas a week before Christmas, when all through the blog,Β

Fit Mamas were working out, with miles to slog.

The sneakers were placed by the front door with care,

In hopes that the owners would next morning wear.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of organic food danced in their heads.

The trainer in lycra and Fit Mama in her tights,

Work out when everyone else thinks it’s still night.

Early morns don’t bother Fit Mama Fridays a bit,

For they know it’s better to be a mama who’s fit.

More rapid oft times than when kids they had none,

The runner Fit Mamas head out for their run.

Now CrossFit! Now Yoga! Now Walking and Hockey!

On Zumba! On Weights! On Step Class and Ballet!

To the top of the rope! To the top of the hill!

Now dash away, dash away, dash away all!

A Fit Mama you’ll know by her muscles and smiles,

As she recounts her dancing, her game, or her miles.

She’s strong and she’s tough and she doesn’t give up,

She’s as handy with dumbbells as with a sippy cup.

She sets an example of health and of fitness,

Her strength and her drive her kids often witness.

They’re a pleasure to feature, all their fitness stories,

Their setbacks and planning and of course all their glories.

Next year you will read about even more Fit Mamas,

Their workouts and meal plans and sometimes their dramas.

You’ll hear this blogger exclaim, as she wraps up this year,

“Thank you all for your stories, you’ve brought us all cheer!”

The Fit Mama Friday series began in February 2013 and I’ve featured 40 fit mamas this year! I’m so happy I began writing this series – it’s been a lot of fun getting to know so many amazing, fit, healthy, kickass mamas. Your stories have inspired me, have driven me to do more in my own workouts and have often (often!) moved me to tears.Β I’m looking forward to a new year filled with yet more fit mamas on the blog!
