Scenes from a weekend #17

How was your weekend, friends? I had what felt like an extended weekend, since it was my birthday Thursday, so there was lots of fun and celebrating. I spent the day doing yoga, hanging out with my little guy Roman, and having a low-key night Β – pizza, cake, champagne & watching the NY Rangers kick some butt. πŸ™‚

Then Friday night more celebrating, more cake (this time in cup form) and more fun out at a cute little bar in our neighborhood.

Oh, and an exciting little birthday surprise was that I received this welcome news:

fitfluential

Yup, I’m going to be a FitFluential Ambassador! I’m very happy and excited to have been selected.

Of course I went running! πŸ™‚ I had two runs this weekend; an easy run, and a lactate threshold run, both of which I got to run outside – woo hooooo!! While I was out on Saturday, I was thinking about how beautiful the park looks, with the winter trees and the snow making a black and white landscape. It’s so hard to capture, but I tried anyway:

On Sunday morning, we walked down to the new rink in Prospect Park so Fran and Roman could go skating. The first time we tried Roman on the ice, he was decidedly NOT a fan. But for the last couple of weeks, he’s been asking to go ice skating (probably some kind of osmosis effect from us being a hockey fan household), so we decided to give it another try. I met them after my run and this time around, my little monkey was super excited and into it. πŸ™‚

It was actually such a success we’re thinking about making it a weekly tradition, for as long as the ice is around!

Last night before settling in to watch the Oscars, we went out for sushi. Roman had fun appropriating chopsticks as drumsticks. πŸ™‚

So, Oscars! I’ve watched so few of the nominated films, but I did see Blue Jasmine and was very happy Cate Blanchett won. I really want to see Gravity and 12 Years a Slave. And how awesome was Ellen as a presenter? She’s hilarious.

What was your favorite moment of your weekend?

Did you watch the Oscars? Did any of the winners come as a surprise to you?

What did you think of Ellen?

Thank you! πŸ™‚ Every year I watch it and every year when I get to bed at one in the morning I wonder why I didn’t just google it Monday morning instead! πŸ˜‰

  1. Oh – so sorry I missed your day. Happy Birthday a little late – maybe you should just extend the celebration into this week!!!

Thanks so much, Kim! I’m super excited about FitFluential. We had seen a grand total of ONE of the movies! Ha ha ha. We still had fun guessing the winners, though.

  2. Happy birthday Carly!!! πŸ™‚ It seems you really enjoyed your weekend πŸ™‚
My favorite moment this weekend was today (we have two holiday days these monday and tuesday) We spent the day in the country side at a birthday party. We all had a great day!
We saw the Oscars last night and I enjoyed a lot Ellen’s sense of humor! πŸ˜‰
I haven’t seen any of the movies that won, but I was happy Sandra Bullock didn’t win as best actress…I’m not a big fan…Ha!

Thanks, Sil! Sounds like you had a good weekend too. I haven’t even seen the movie Gravity – it sounds like Sandr Bullock has so much screen time in it, you might want to skip seeing it if you’re not a fan!! πŸ˜‰

  3. LOVED the Oscars! I loved Blue Jasmine as well, and was glad to see Cate when but was surprised Meryl didn’t win, I thought no one beat Meryl!!! πŸ˜‰ Congratulations on the Fitfluential Ambassador acceptance! You SO deserve it and I am so excited for you! <3
