Scenes from a weekend #21

It was a rainy weekend in Brooklyn, but I’ll take it because it was WARM! (Okay, low 50s, but that definitely counts). You know who definitely did NOT run on a treadmill at all this weekend?

This girl.

Anyway, showers feel that much better when you’re soaked from the rain, right?

RIGHT.

The rain kept us inside for a while, with some fun art activities:

I actually didn’t have any idea the feet photo had even been taken, until I started scrolling through my phone for weekend pictures. It’s part of a series, apparently. There are about 30 others. Some without feet, just of the blinds. Some very thought-provoking work.

We went out for diner breakfast on Sunday morning. Fran and I particularly appreciate the endless coffee. Roman particularly appreciates the pancakes as well as having milk in a “coffee cup”.

Then we picked up a couple of new books. I can’t say no to a Mo Willems Elephant & Piggie book. They are as fun for me to read as for Roman to listen. Also, the photo of Fran below is a stark indicator of what happens when someone binge-watches 3 seasons of Game of Thrones in about 2 weeks. He found this puppet and said to me, “I am the father of dragons!” (By the way, there’s a bad Game of Thrones pun in this paragraph. You’re welcome).

I made some delicious turkey burgers for one of our dinners. Remember when I did that Helpout by Google with the nutritionist, all about trying to get more veggies into Roman’s life? Well, I’ve been driven to ‘hiding’ vegetables in food to attempt to force as many into Roman as possible. The turkey burgers were packed with spinach, onion and mushrooms.

All in all, it was a lovely weekend! Next weekend I’m already excited about, because it will be a certain tiny someone’s VERY FIRST RACE. Now he’s 2 years old, Roman can run in the kiddie races that NYRR holds occasionally. I tried to talk to him about tapering, but this was while we were in the middle of a pretty spirited game of chase up and down the apartment, so I don’t think he took me seriously.

What was your favorite part of the weekend?

Do you run in the rain, or treadmill at the first drop?

Fave kid’s books?

  1. I love Mo Willems too! My kids are older, but still love the books. When we lived in Washington DC, we went to the Kennedy Center and saw a live performance of Knuffle Bunny. It was the best! My kids loved it.
Best part of my week was spending time with my kids-they were on spring break last week.
I love running in the rain! If it would only rain here in SoCal, I’d be out there in a second. Enjoy your week!

    1. That must have been amazing!! We love Knuffle Bunny, too.
Whenever it rains, I’m always on the fence & procrastinating about running, but then when I do go out I love it. I never seem to remember it’s actually fun to run in the rain.

    1. That sounds super fun! I bet the play version of the Hobbit is awesome. Love that the boys are doing such creative things. πŸ™‚

  2. I love Elephant and Piggie! The author lives around here and always shows up for kid events.
And I think we have the same pajamas as you do in this house. They are a favorite!
The weekend was gloomy here – looking forward to a better week.

    1. That’s so cool that you have easy access to Mo Willems! I love all his books, as does Roman. And yes, those PJs are super snuggly. πŸ™‚

    1. Well, it’s that photo of his feet, 30 more times. Then the same photo, sans feet, another 15 times. πŸ™‚
