City Kids

City Kids

I’m raising a little city kid. Our favorite thing to do lately is eat lunch out on the stoop and watch the world go by outside. As you can imagine, there’s a lot of good people-watching in Brooklyn. Roman knows all the neighbors (and their dogs, too). When I was little, I would watch Sesame Street and it was a totally different world to how I was growing up. Now I’m watching Roman practically living on Sesame Street.

Today, I’ve written a guest post for Nicole, over at Work in Sweats Mama, about what it’s like to raise a city kid when you weren’t one yourself. I’d love you to go visit and read!

City Kids

I could have included hundreds of photos in the post for Nicole, butΒ here are a few that show what a little Brooklynite I have on my hands. πŸ™‚ Enjoy.

Thanks for checking out my post, Kim! πŸ™‚ Did you know that you’re how I found Nicole’s blog in the first place? Just another reason the blogging community is so awesome.

  1. Loved your article! I actually loved growing up as a city kid, but my mom grew up in NYC too so she knew what she was getting into. (My dad lived in Boston til he was 8, then lived in more suburban and rural places in New England.) Although we didn’t live near Central Park or Prospect Park, I was lucky in that I was able to escape the city for the summers on Long Island with my family, so I got my outdoor time that way. And I agree that city living provides so many opportunities and experiences that children might not get otherwise. Roman is very lucky that you live so close to Prospect Park!

Thanks, Gabby! It was fun to write a more parenting kind of piece than my fitness/running posts here! πŸ™‚ Your experience sounds like the perfect balance! And yes, having the park so close is SO important for us.

Thanks for checking out my post! I can definitely imagine raising Roman elsewhere, but I do love what we can do here that he just wouldn’t be able to do anywhere else.
