Scenes from a weekend #34

We did the quintessential New York City summer thing this weekend and took ourselves to Coney Island. It was so much fun! Here are some scenes from a weekend, Brooklyn staycation style…

Scenes from a weekend #34

I admit, I’ve never been the biggest fan of Coney, but I knew the fun park had been redone recently and I figured even one good kiddie ride would be super fun for the little dude. Turns out, the little kid area of Luna Park is kind of awesome. It’s Roman Approved.

And we went on the famous Wonder Wheel. Here’s the deal – I LOVE roller coasters. Love them. I will go on them all, the scarier and more upside down, the better. Fran…not so much. To the extent that we chose the non-swinging car when we went on the Wheel. At least there will be no arguments over who gets to go with Roman on the roller coasters when he’s not quite big enough on his own, right? πŸ˜‰

And to finish it off, there was ice cream.

Ice cream all over. Please note the ice cream in his EYELASHES. We had to strip him down when we got home and practically hosed off the stroller.

What else did we get up to this weekend? Well, I did some running:

But I’ll give you more details in The Run Report this week. It was a fun running weekend. πŸ™‚

We also broke out some paints.

I went for a quick run while my boys were getting their art on in our front stoop. It was all going very well when I left.

When I got back, Roman explained he wanted to paint himself to look the same as Grover.

Needless to say, it was a tubby night.

Roller coasters – do you love them, or are you terrified?

Favorite Muppet? (I loved Snuffy and Oscar)

Did you workout this weekend? What did you do?

It’s so nice to get outside after a long time on the treadmill, isn’t it? It’s always a magical run. πŸ™‚

If he can cover himself in something sticky or colorful, he pretty much does! I totally would have pegged you as a yes to roller coasters!

  2. I cannot get enough of Roman!! OMG he is so dang adorable – the ice cream, the paint – I mean really! I also LOVE roller coasters. We just came back from HersheyPark and I really wanted to ride ALL the coasters there. My husband? Not so much. Someday, you and I can take all the boys on all the coasters!!!

I saw a photo from Hershey and I was jealous! It looks so fun, we want to go someday. I can’t wait until Roman’s big enough to ride the coasters!!!

  3. LOVE his hair. I love Coney Island. I haven’t been in ages. I don’t love roller coasters. Terrified. I do love ferris wheels and the higher the better! Although only the standard ones that don’t spin or do anything funny.
I did work out this weekend, actually! At the beach, no less! I climbed insanely vertical dunes. It hurt.

Dunes are no joke! I bet you’re hurting!! That was the most fun I’ve had at Coney – something about seeing it anew through a child’s eyes, I think.

  4. Roman loved his ice cream:) OMG it really was everywhere, wasn’t it?!
I went on the old wooden roller coaster in Coney Island before and really thought I was going to die. I like the big new metal one better! haha!

EVERYWHERE. We had to strip him down outside before even getting in to the apartment. I went on the wooden Cyclone with Fran YEARS ago! It was super scary and awesome. That was when Fran decided he would never ever go on another roller coaster as long as he lived (we were with a bunch of people and he thought he’d look like a wimp if his wife went on it and he didn’t!). πŸ™‚

  5. I love roller coasters but have found that now that I’m older they can give me a headache so I have to be selective.

I ran and ran. Just like you. πŸ™‚ The last picture is so cute. Your little guy looks like he’s reflecting on what he painted.

Oh, that’s such a bummer! I wonder what that’s about – blood pressure changes maybe?
