Scenes from a weekend #40

Scenes from a weekend #40

I hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend! We were back to summer here in Brooklyn, hot, humid days and threatening thunderstorms that never really happened.

Saturday we playground hopped all the way to the Farmer’s Market at Grand Army Plaza.

Scenes from a weekend #40I also did some running and had a particularly good long run early Saturday morning. My running has been a somewhat lackluster lately, so this was a run I was hoping for. I went by feel and actually didn’t check my Garmin once. Just over 9 miles at a really steady pace, feeling good the whole time.

On Sunday we headed to the zoo in Prospect Park and it was HOT. We refilled water bottles en route kind of hot. But once we were there, we had a lot of fun. Roman is big enough now that he gets really excited about seeing the animals and they have fun stuff for the kids to do, like dress up like animals. Okay, maybe mamas too.

Monday I had a client and then worked out while Fran and Roman had a boy’s morning, then we had some friends over last night for a little stoop dinner party. πŸ™‚ Brooklyn version of Labor Day BBQ is pizza and beer on the stoop!

We are continuing our Check-Out-the-2014-Oscar-Nominees-6-Months-Later quest and watched ‘Her’ over the weekend, too. It was weird, but I loved it.

What did you do this weekend? BBQ? Racing?Β

Any movie recommendations for me?Β

    1. I need to catch up on my blog reading, but I’m looking forward to reading your update, for sure!! I definitely went out not expecting to feel great, maybe you’re right and the pressure is the devil!

    1. I think it really bothered Fran that my ears and nose didn’t match – he’s a little OCD like that!! ha ha ha. Roman thought it was awesome.

  1. We were at the zoo this weekend too! It’s football season and my hubby has season tickets to his favorite college football team so Saturday’s are just another day with the kiddos. (Not complaining I just really like my “me” time too). I can’t wait for my mums to come up – yay for fall! PS you look good dressed up πŸ™‚

    1. It’s like you don’t realize how much you need the ‘me-time’ until it’s taken away, right?? You’ll have to squeeze it in to Sunday somewhere, lady!!

  2. Hooray for a good run – always a good feeling!!
We had a family reunion on Saturday with Chris’ family (at our venue) and Sunday evening a party with some neighbors.

  3. So sad I won’t be seeing you in the city today, and kinda scared that I’m going to melt!! This weather is the worst. Where is the Fall?? I love the stoop party! And really? You loved “Her?” Hmmmm. I haven’t seen it but… πŸ™‚

    1. Give it a chance! I didn’t think I’d like it because it’s such a strange premise, but Joaquin Phoenix is just brilliant. You totally believe every moment. I am sad to miss you today too!! Hope you and Christine get a chance to catch up, though. We are masters of the stoop party. πŸ™‚

    1. Love a good birthday weekend! It’s always fun when you can stretch it out a little. Nursery decorating is SO fun. I loved every moment of making Roman’s little room. Even if I developed a bit of an Etsy obsession…

    1. The fact that we have now seen two of this year’s nominations is like some sort of record, really. πŸ˜‰
