Scenes from a weekend #41

My poor little monkey.

Scenes from a weekend 4

This is what happens when a little boy has a little red wagon accident…and uses his face to break his fall. Is there anything worse than watching your kid get hurt?

Don’t get me wrong, we had some fun times this weekend as well. Here’s my little intrepid explorer walking through the park with me after we had a playground adventure.

Here are two of the coolest dudes in Brooklyn on their way to a block party.

And here’s how quickly a 2 and a half year old recovers from a big fall.

Scenes from a weekend 2

Every night at bedtime, I ask Roman what his three favorite parts of his day were. The day he had his accident (which must have been traumatic for him – his little nose was bleeding buckets, which was freaking him out on top of the pain), after we finished bedtime stories and I tucked him in, I asked him what his favorite part of the day was, cringing inwardly that he might not have any.

“When we did see the firetruck.”

Okay, that was a good start, so I kept going and asked him what his second favorite thing was that day.

“Going to my friend Gussy’s house.”

Playdates with Gus are a big hit with Roman. And what was his third favorite thing?

“When you took me to the playground, Mama.”

So there you go – if there’s anything a toddler can teach you, it’s how to look on the bright side and see the happy part of any day, no matter how crappy it turned out to be.

What were your three favorite parts of your weekend?

  1. I love that you ask him his 3 favorite parts of the day every night – what an awesome daily tradition!!
And, kids really are resilient – we could learn from them and just let go of the “bad” parts and remember all the good stuff!!!

  2. Oh no!!! No, there is nothing worse then seeing buckets of blood come out of your children. So sorry! The only consolation is that they do tend to recover quickly. And, with boys, I think we had better get used to this, right? Kisses for Roman!

  3. Ouchie! I do not have kids, but I cringe every time I see a child fall, so I can only imagine how it feels when it is your own! Hopefully he feels better! I spent most my weekend moving stuff into our new house, which feels good, but went by so fast! Meant I had to do my progression run this morning; Tina is veerrryyy tired!

  4. Oh poor sweetie. It’s always so hard when they get hurt when they’re so little. But they’re so resilient too. Highlights here included a race, a skating competition and running lots of hills. Glad to have all of that behind me actually. Haha!
