Then and Now

Then and Now – Baby Update

I can’t believe it’s been six weeks since Tanner was born! Everyone tells you time flies when you have a baby and it’s so true. I think because they change so rapidly over such a short period of time, it seems even more accelerated. Now that Tanner has arrived, I’m also seeingΒ Roman with fresh eyes – he was my little baby, but now I look at him and realize he’s a boy now. A big, tall, lanky boy.

Roman and Tanner actually were very similar in looks as babies, but in terms of size, totally different. Not only was Tanner 1 lb 8 oz bigger at birth than Roman, he is also gaining weight like a champ. I weighed him this week and he was 14 lbs 8 oz. I looked back at some of Roman’s growth numbers and found his 9 month doctor’s appointment…he was 16 lbs 7oz. Needless to say, most of what Roman wore in his first 6 weeks, Tanner grew out of within days. He is enormous.

Just for fun, I thought I’d share some side-by-side photos of my two boys at the same age – a little then and now. Enjoy!

Then and Now

Leaving the hospital: Going home with a cranky Roman in 2012; Taking Tanner home in 2015.

Then and Now

Tubby time! Roman on the left, Tanner on the right. Both boys were about a week old.

Then and Now

Kitty Love. On the left is Roman with our boy kitty TooToo; on the right, Tanner withΒ TooToo.

Then and Now

My two little squoodges. We breed crazy hair.

Then and Now

Daddy trying a bottle feed, both 1 month old.

Then and Now

Fran loves Motorhead (and owns the t-shirt version of this onesie).

I mean, can you tell they’re brothers? πŸ˜‰ It feels like last month that Roman was this age and I know I’m going to blink and Tanner will be three years old with a six-year-old big brother.

Ha ha ha ha – I know! It really is the first thing everyone says when they see him.

Fran and I had lots of hair as babies so we were kind of expecting it – maybe not the faux hawk style though!

I can’t imagine, Kim! But I also don’t know where Roman’s first three years and change went.

  1. OMG!!! So much cuteness I just can’t take it. I love how you are so on it with the side by side photos! Both boys will absolutely love this one day. You have such a beautiful family and are so blessed!! Enjoy the heck outta those boys!!

I don’t think I would have done it if they didn’t look so alike as babies. Although, since I’m replying to this a month later (SO ON TOP OF IT!) Tanner is definitely looking different from Roman now.
