VIM & VIGR Review: Ever tried compression leg sleeves? They’re not just for athletes, or for recovering after surgery. After using them a lot while I was training for a half marathon, then again while I was pregnant, I had forgotten how amazing these feel for wearing everyday.

VIM & VIGR Compression – The Getting a Hug for Your Legs Review

I didn’t realize I needed a hug.

It turns out this whole moving thing is incredibly stressful. In fact, it ranks right up there on the list of stressful life events that can indicate likelihood of illness in the near future. (Oh and you know I took that whole test I just linked to. I’m right on the cusp of being scored at 80% likelihood of illness. Time to make sure I’m taking care of my health.)

So, the hug I was talking about? Was for my legs. VIM & VIGR were kind enough to send me a pair of their new compression calf sleeves (thank you, guys!).

Known for their compression socks that are actually stylish and the kind you want to show off, VIM & VIGR recently released compression leg sleeves in nylon to their line and I was excited to try these out. I’ve missed compression since having Baby T – you know I lived in anything that would possibly compress my legs while I was pregnant – and it belatedly occurred to me that there was no reason for me to have stopped using compression wear after having the baby. In fact, in my baby and me yoga class, the teacher often has us do legs up the wall at the end of class, telling us doing that pose for 5 minutes is akin to a half hour nap. I used to do legs up the wall all the time when wearing compression while I was training for the half marathon, then later when I was pregnant, so that has definitely returned to my at-home yoga practice! (I figure if 5 minutes is like a 30 minute nap, then 5 minutes in calf sleeves must be a good hour, right?)

My first impression when I received the VIM & VIGR sleeves was, “Really? These are compression? They seem kind of…flimsy.” I guess that’s the magic of nylon, because in putting them on, I realized these puppies were going to hug me in all the right places. The real beauty of these being nylon, yet still compression wear, is they’re perfect for putting on under your jeans, or leggings, without them being as bulky as regular compression sleeves or socks. They have the same weight and thickness as a pair of opaque tights but they truly feel just as tight and supportive than the thicker sleeves you may be used to.

The VIM & VIGR site says you can benefit from compression socks or sleeves if you spend a lot of time sitting, standing, exercising, traveling, or if you’re pregnant. Given that this is my lap situation much of the time I’m with Baby T, I have the sitting down to a fine art:

And when I’m not sitting, I’m walking to clients, standing during my sessions, or at home working my way room-by-room through the apartment, purging and packing. These calf sleeves are perfect for my situation right now!

Pros of the VIM & VIGR Compression Leg Sleeves

  • Made of moisture-wicking nylon throughout the sleeve, these are breathable and lightweight, perfect for layering under clothing.
  • The compression level is 15 – 20 mmHg (I’m not sure what that means, but I’m informed it puts them in the category of being perfect for all day wear. I can actually attest to this because I’ve forgotten I was wearing them under PJs a couple of times and stretched that into overnight wear as well).
  • No pressure cuff on the lower sleeve. I haven’t noticed any discomfort at either end of the sleeves – I actually wish I had tried these while pregnant, because when my legs were quite swollen, the cuffs were where compression socks and sleeves would start to feel uncomfortable.
  • VIM & VIGR have a 30 day no questions asked money back guarantee.

Cons of the VIM & VIGR Compression Leg Sleeves

  • So, their socks are really cute – so many fun colors and patterns! But their sleeves? Basic black. That’s a con in my book because I wear them a lot at home and it would brighten my day if they were a really fun pair. That said, since they’re great for wearing under jeans and pants, it’s not like this is a deal breaker for when you’re out and about.

The Compression Leg Sleeves are priced at $24.95 and I have an awesome deal for you! VIM & VIGR was kind enough to offer a discount code for my readers for 15% off! You’re not limited to the sleeves, check out their socks as well! 🙂

Use the code FINEFIT15 at checkout to receive the 15% discount. This code is valid until October 1st.

Do you wear compression sleeves or socks?

Did you take that stress test? How did you score?

    1. I think you’d love these, Lacey, they’re not as thick as a lot of the other brands out there.
