Gift Guide for Runners

“All you need are your sneakers and you’re good to go!” said no runner ever. I love putting together these gift guides every year because it’s so fun to take a look at all the many, many products and goodies out there for runners and dream a little bit. (Sometimes, I even get a bit impatient and put together barely-disguised gift guides, like this list of 15 Things Runners Were Glad Were Invented.)

The following includes products I love and use, as well as some I’d love to try. And just a disclosure that this post includes Amazon affiliate links, meaning if you click on one of these awesome gifts for runners and buy it through Amazon, I’ll get a small commission at no cost to you.

And this won’t be the only gift guide you see this week…I may have been working very hard behind the scenes to bring you one, or two, or three, okay FOUR more!

Without further ado, here is your Fine Fit Day Gift Guide for Runners!

  1.  New Balance Heat En Route Jacket. How stylish and feminine is this light jacket from New Balance? It has their heat technology, as well as moisture wicking, so you know it’s going to be a warm layer, without being bulky outerwear.
  2. Every winter TrailHeads sends me a little winter running gift and I am in LOVE with this TrailHeads Women’s Space Dye Knit Ponytail Headband. Fleece on the inside, cute knit on the outside, plus their signature ponytail hole makes this the perfect headgear for winter runs.
  3. I love being a Momentum Jewelry ambassador – their jewelry is feminine, yet kick-ass all at the same time. This Never Give Up necklace is a lovely gift for the running lover in your life. (There’s also a ‘Runner Girl’ and a ‘Dream Big’ version, or you can make a custom saying.)
  4. If you have to be on the treadmill this winter, may as well make sure you have a cute, colorful tank to wear, right? Love the print and colors of this Chi Tank Colorburst by Athleta – the perfect pick-me-up for an indoor run.
  5. This is the year I have to admit I need a new GPS watch. I’ve struggled with waiting (interminably) for satellites, scotch taped up a clasp and replaced the band now. If I sweat too much, it short circuits. Sigh. I have my eye on this amazing looking Timex Ironman One GPS Watch  – not only does it do all the regular GPS stuff, you can also send an SOS to selected contacts, or even text messages!
  6. This is my sports bra of choice. I recommend it to EVERYONE. It does not give you uni-boob, you will not bounce around, it comes in cute colors and patterns and in short, it rules. It’s the Moving Comfort Juno Bra and I promise you’ll love it.Gift Guide for Runners - Whether you're searching for the perfect gift for a special runner in your life, or you're looking for a little present to yourself, check out this list of running must-haves! 7. You know I reviewed the BOSU trainer earlier this year and I still love it. But why is it on a gift guide for runners? Because you need to be proactively strength-train to avoid injury as a runner and the BOSU is an amazing tool for balance, strength and flexibility. The BOSU Balance Trainer now comes in pink as well as their signature blue.
  8. Speaking of strength training for runners, another couple of tools I have on hand for at-home workouts, or for clients working out in their homes are the TRX Suspension Trainer  (great for whole body exercise, including killer abdominal workouts) or regular Resistance Exercise Bands with Handles, both of which can be easily packed up and taken anywhere.
  9. You can’t go wrong with cute running gear that can be worn while running, or just as a cute layer. Run Far Gear has some beautiful, simple designs that look gorgeous, plus a percentage of Sarah’s profits go towards the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, a cause close to her heart. Check out all the tanks, tees, sweatpants and hoodies here.
  10. Great as a stocking stuffer, every runner can attest to the importance of BodyGlide! Recently they’ve come up with a formula that includes SPF protection, called BodyGlide Sun . You can kill two birds with one stone! Sold.
  11. If you didn’t read my interview with Dr. Jeff Brown, author of The Runner’s Brain, check it out here. Then go buy The Runner’s Brain! It’s a fascinating book on the importance of brain training for runners, including your very own workout plan for your brain. Meb wrote the foreword – enough said.
  12. The RunningLuv is an ingenious little invention. It’s a sweatband, it’s a tissue, it’s a towel, it’s whatever you want to use it for and you wear it compactly on your wrist. Another awesome stocking stuffer for your running friend.Gift Guide for Runners - Whether you're searching for the perfect gift for a special runner in your life, or you're looking for a little present to yourself, check out this list of running must-haves! 13. Block Island Organics sent me some of their sunscreen over the summer and it’s amazing – no chemicals, all organic and protects beautifully against the sun. What I love even more is this new Block Island Organics Face Moisturizer in SPF 30 they’ve just released. You cannot see it once it’s on your skin – unheard of in a non-chemical moisturizer! Don’t make the mistake of thinking you don’t need sunscreen when you’re running in winter – use this. (Also, you can use the code carlyp on the Block Island Organics website for an exclusive 20% off until Monday, December 14! It can’t be combined with any other offers. This is a great deal!)
  14. Spandits! is a small, female-owned company in Maine that makes workout pants, shorts, capris, skirts and dresses in the most amazing patterns. You’ve seen them all over the blog and Instagram because I’m one of their ambassadors! These are two of the (many) patterns I own and love, Galactic and Rumple Skullskins. Use the code SPANDITSLOVE for 10% off your order on the Spandits! website and tell them I sent you!
  15. I think I first tried these Bombas socks after receiving them in a gift bag at a blogging event. In any event, smart move on their behalf, because they are hands down the best running socks I own. I not only went out and bought more for myself, I also bully recommend my clients and running friends buy them too.
  16. Everyone needs a running journal – even if you’re tracking your runs on software online, there’s something about pen and paper that makes you see patterns and issues you may not have noticed otherwise. To make it even better, you can custom make your own, personalized journal with Journal Menu. (psst…there *might* be a giveaway in the future for one of these. Subscribe here so you don’t miss out! πŸ˜‰ )
  17. Another shout out to Momentum Jewelry. If you think the necklace listed above isn’t her style, you can’t go wrong with Momentum foot notes. These awesome little blingy thingies slip onto your laces to give you a visual reminder of your mantra, a positive thought, or whatever you want them to say.
  18. I am still in love with the Moji Foot Massager that I received for review earlier this year. It lives in front of my couch. You can get a fancy kind with steel balls that you can keep in the freezer, but this one is hard-core enough for me.

What’s on your list this year, running friends? Tell me if you’ve tried and loved any of these products. And see more gift guides from my running blogger friends on my Pinterest board for holiday gift guides!
