Scenes from a weekend #13

It was a certain little someone’s birthday this weekend…my little man turned 2! He’s such a big boy now and he loved every minute of his birthday. πŸ™‚

Cake, balloons, little friends coming to visit, presents, Grandma in town for the big day – Roman was beside himself with excitement.

I was very happy the weather in New York finally warmed up slightly from our arctic chill and I was able to get outside for my long run!! I was really happy with how the run went – it’s been a while since I ran outside, but it felt comfortable and I was even able to push it for the last few miles to get a fast finish done. As I reached the 13.1 mile mark, I checked my time and realized it was only a couple of minutes slower than my current half marathon PR. I vowed I’d crush it this year and hopefully this is a good sign!

Back home, I put off a shower right away because my little man wanted a story. I love that he loves reading so much and snuggling in for story time is always my favorite part of the day.

Bondi Bands sent me a couple of their super-cute headbands, as well as a pair of compression socks, as part of the Elf for Health prize – I was so happy to try out those compression socks after my long run. They really do feel amazing.

We had some more fun at another swim lesson:

A short recovery run yesterday, followed by meeting my two main men for some adventures in the park:

And then we watched the Superbowl last night. I made my Baked Zucchini Fritters as an appetizer – Yum!!

I wasn’t at all invested in the game (football is not my thing and I wasn’t going for either team in particular), but I felt bad for Denver it was such a rout. I do like that Peyton Manning!

How was your weekend? Did you watch the game?Β

  1. please post your fritter recipe. I LOVE them and my kid devours asparagus tempura and would probably like these as well.

    1. Fixed the link – just click on the bold recipe title & you’ll go to the post. I’ve never tried Roman on asparagus – maybe I’ll try that!

    1. Thanks, my lovely! πŸ™‚ The headbands are great – they were perfect for this weekend’s weather, too, when it was a little too warm for a hat, but too chilly for bare ears.

    1. Wasn’t it weird? It’s always odd when a team playing at the highest level just gets annihilated like that.

    1. Thanks Britt, I think he’s pretty cute, too! πŸ˜‰ Reading with him is often my favorite part of the day.
