There are so many healthy options for snacks that it should be impossible to resort to raiding the vending machine, or picking whatever looks good at the store when you’re already starving. Already starving = unhealthy choice, usually. I’ve rounded up some great easy recipes and healthy snack ideas from healthy living bloggers so you can prep snacks for a week or more, plus I’m sharing the best choices you can make if you need to grab something quickly from the store.
50 Healthy Snack Ideas
ENERGY BALLS
If you haven’t heard of energy balls (or bites), then you may not follow any nutrition or healthy living blogs. π There’s a reason these are a popular recipe – they’re easy to make in a food processor or a blender (I can confirm the blender works for most recipes); they’re small enough to be snack or treat size; you can make them in bulk and keep them in the freezer or fridge for easy snack packing. These lemon energy balls were the first I ever tried making and are still a favorite of mine. Here are lots more options to keep you snacking happy:

SNACKS AT THE STORE

Image: GoMacro Peanut Butter MacroBar
String cheese and a piece of fruit
Banana or apple with a snack size nut butter (like these single packs from Justin’s)
Greek yogurt
Snack bar – I like the Pressed by Kind bars and I’m a huge fan of the GoMacro MacroBars. Also, GoMacro is donating 10% of their net sales of their Peanut Butter MacroBars to Farm Sanctuary during May! You can read about Farm Sanctuary here and buy the bars here.
Trail mix – most delis will have trail mix in big bags, so just pay attention to the serving size and this is a healthy and filling snack.
Avocado – half an avocado eaten with a spoon is filling and delicious.
Smoothie drink – if you’re the kind of person who can feel satiated with a drink rather than a food snack, these can be a good choice. Just check the label to make sure it’s not loaded with added sugar.
