Did you know that right now, 50 million Americans are going hungry? What if you could instantly provide 10 meals for those people who don’t have enough to eat, just by running a 10K?
You can.
RUN10FEED10 is an amazing initiative hosted by Women’s Health and FEED to make a difference for people going hungry in the US today.
Here’s how it works:
You either sign up for one of the RUN10FEED10 races being held in New York, Chicago and San Francisco, or you can just run your own 10K that you track online! (genius idea!)
As soon as you register, 10 meals are provided to children in your community.
Then, you can make even more of a difference by raising money via the RUN10FEED10 Crowdrise site, as well as promoting the event via social media.
If you want to sign up for the 10K being held in New York on Sunday, September 22, Women’s Health is offering my readers $5 off your registration fee of $60 by using the codeΒ R10F10USA.
Even if you can’t make the race in New York, Women’s Health magazine has very kindly contributed the limited-edition FEED tote bagΒ (given to the 10K entrants) as a giveaway for one of my lucky readers! There are even a few little goodies inside. (pssst…there will be an extra gift in there from Fine Fit Day, as well!).
I am BUMMED I won’t be able to make the NYC race, since I’ll be out of town for a good friend’s wedding (although I am super excited to celebrate with my friend!). The 10K in New York sounds awesome:
The race will start and finish at Pier 84 at Hudson River Park, running down the West Side Highway, then back up via the Hudson River Park Esplanade and Green Path. (I already know this will be a really pretty run, because I used to run there all the time when I worked at Equinox in the city – the Green Path is lovely.) There will be a post-race wellness festival at Pier 84, featuring yoga sessions, nutrition and beauty consultations and lots of great giveaways.Β Among the special celebrity guests at the festival,Β Glee singer/actress Naya Rivera is performing her new single LIVE for the first time for the runners, Olympic soccer star Alex Morgan will be doing meet & greets, and Food Network chef Ellie Krieger will be hosting nutrition demos.
Good Morning America will be there as well, broadcasting the race live and chatting with runners.

My most run distance is 5k so far so I guess that’s my favorite π and I try to make sure all races I do benefit a charity
I love 10ks and I have raised over $6000 for CCFA Team Challenge! π
Favorite distance is Half marathon – but I’ve run 5Ks for charity before!
My favorite distance is half marathon. It’s just right! Nothing too long to make myself so tired but still feeling accomplished after crossing the finish line! π I join local races as well. Usually they’re the ones you register for a cause. π My husband and I love joining our local community’s races to race up money for charities. π
