This was a blast from the past kind of weekend! My friends Saskia and Michael, whom I’ve known since high school, have been traveling the US and Canada for the past couple of weeks with their two funny, sweet boys Cooper and Archie. They were in Brooklyn for a weekend before Christmas, then they’ve been staying at an apartment nearby again for the past few days.
On Friday night, Saskia and I went out for drinks with our mutual high school friend Tamara, a fellow Aussie who lives in Long Island now! (Also, Saskia and Tamara have both been featured on Fit Mama Friday!)
Even though it was kind of foggy (and ended up raining), I got outside for my long run after too many runs on the treadmill recently. It was warm, especially after that delightful ‘polar vortex’ we had last week, and oh-so-pretty in the park!
We had such a wonderful Sunday at one of my favorite places in the world, the Met! I’ve never found anyone who hasn’t found something they love within its walls.
For people with young kids in tow (like us!) I love exploring the ground floor – the Greek & Roman wings with their statues and artifacts; the American wing with its fountains and interior tableaus; the Arms & Armor section with the fabulous metalwork; the Egyptian wing with its mummies, sarcophagi and the Temple of Dendur. It’s all fascinating. We had a wonderful day!
And just for fun, I made sure Roman and I got a photo taken in the same place we posed almost exactly a year ago! π Things I realized after seeing the photos together: Those boots were an excellent purchase, given I wear them all the time; I love wearing scarves; Roman has super long legs!
Sas, Mike and the boys are leaving tomorrow, so I figured for their last night in NYC I’d make a home-cooked meal. My go-to for a crowd is spaghetti bolognese and salad. Roman will definitely miss having his new buddies Cooper and Archie here! They had so much fun together.
Β What was your favorite part of the weekend?
What do you cook when you’re cooking for a bunch of people?
Hi Carly!
I’ve been once to the Met and I was impressed!!! I loved it and honestly I would need some sore visits to be able to say I saw it all. It’s such a big museum!
My favourite part of this past weekend was yesterday. The Pro’s cousin came to visit from Miami for the week, and we spent the afternoon together; took the kids and the dogs, and went for a quad cycle ride!
And to tell you the truth…when I have many people over…We order pizza! π
Have a wonderful week!
Fun!! Glad you had a good time with your family! Pizza is *always* good!! π
Glad you have gotten to catch up with friends!
My boys would love the Met – guess we need a trip to NY sometime!!

It’s such a fun museum to visit – I bet they’d love the Museum of Natural History, too, Kim! Come visit!
Looks like such a fun weekend! We had another productive weekend of getting more things done around our house and getting the baby’s room ready. My go-to meal that I serve/make when we have a bunch of people over is either some sort of casserole and salad, lasagna or homemade pizza!
