Let’s just skip straight ahead to my Saturday afternoon, when this lady arrived from LA for a long overdue visit to NYC.
Missed. Her. So. Much. Jenny’s in town for a few more days, so we’ll have some more time together, but I am SO HAPPY I got to see her in person this weekend.
We did some stoop hanging before she had to head to a dance shoot. (She’s fancy like that).
Okay, now, backtracking. I did my long run early Saturday morning – this is becoming my favorite time of the week to run. It really doesn’t get busy in the park until about 7:30am, so I get a good hour of just a few runners on the loop before company shows up. Also, the last couple of weeks there’s been a bike race going on early, so it’s fun to see the bike pack going by every 10 minutes or so.
This week’s run was a little challenging mentally…but more on that tomorrow in my training wrap up.
Some Delicious Pasta was cooked and eaten with gusto. (I still haven’t made Roman a kale fan, but he lives in Brooklyn, it’s only a matter of time).
We took a couple of Sunday selfies:
And Sunday evening we went for a family walk:
Which culminated in ice cream. 🙂
Other fun stuff not pictured: our friend Steve visited with his 1 year old Gus. Roman was trying to teach him how to draw on the easel. Gus was helping Roman learn how to share. They were adorable together.
Swimming lesson for Roman on Sunday morning – I am so happy he is getting more comfortable in the water every week.
Fran made mint juleps for the Kentucky Derby, which he insisted I taste, but UGH bourbon. I just can’t do it.
What did you do this weekend?
Mint juleps – are you a fan? Did you have any money on the race?
Runners – when do you get you long run done?
Oh that is SO fun!! I love when old friends come to visit!!
I love that early morning run in the park. I’m looking for someone to show me the running ropes when I come into town for Healthy U this weekend…maybe we can meet in the park for some early morning miles? I write this like I have the first clue how to get there from my hotel! However, I AM determined to get some miles in city on Saturday morning!!

I will email you, Allie! Depending on where your hotel is, I may be able to join you (although it takes me a while to get in from Brooklyn). Either way, you’ll have such a great time running in the city. 🙂
OMG So, so cute! Wasn’t the Derby amazing? I love Cinderella stories like that!

His ice cream face looks like a perfect little beard!
I also do my long runs on Saturday mornings. I usually meet with group really early in the morning, but last weekend it was just me, so I waited until late morning. It’s nice to get a few miles in before paths get crowded!

I love the pictures of Roman eating his ice cream.
Hunter and I did our long run Saturday morning – so nice to have it done by 9:00 am – I think that even the 13 year old felt the same way!!

The ice cream shots are fabulous.
Once last year, Des ate a ton of kale at once. It was made by Ilene (Fierce Diva Guide/Hippie Chick Granola – because I assume everyone knows everyone in blogging land) and he was only a year old. He just ate it with gusto. Since then it happens occasionally. My daughter wouldn’t touch it for a trip to Disney. I actually felt the same way until recently. I eat it daily and we grow it in our garden!

Roman ate it all the time as a baby when I’d make him purees but now that he’s a “big boy” forget it. You know, I keep hearing about Ilene but I haven’t checked her out! I need to, if only because I want to try this amazing granola of hers!
Ummm, how am I just now seeing this post?! LOVE!!! Also love you and your fellas to bits and pieces and miss you Pizzani’s in my life. ❤️
