I’m back baby. Well, kind of. This cold really kicked my butt and to top it off, Roman developed a delightful case of pink eye and was home from school half the week. I am finally feeling more human again and determined to kick back into gear this week for the rest of the program.
Current Goal:
Just to run! I want to hit my mileage for the week and have a successful long run.
Long Run, Speed Workout, Regular Run:
There really wasn’t any of the above. I got out early last week for a 3 mile trail run, which actually felt pretty good. I didn’t look at my watch and haven’t even checked my splits. I found a new area of a trail with a bit more scrambling involved, so it ended up being a really fun, low pressure workout to return to running.
I also tried out my new Hoka One Ones I just bought on serious sale. Love mail days when it’s in the form of shoe boxes. π
A couple of days without running happened (aka life happened) and I was itching to try to get a long run done. I even texted Allie for advice because I started freaking out in my head that I was going to be screwed. Finally I headed out yesterday and took Allie’s suggestion of picking a short out and back near home so I could cut it short if I needed to. And I needed to. I ended up with just 8 miles under my belt, but I feel okay about it. By this weekend I know I’ll be ready for a real long run.
Other Workouts:
Since Roman was pretty miserable and Tanner was at the tail end of his cold as well, not a lot got done. On Saturday I dragged the boys out for a long walk with me wearing Baby T (who is getting seriously heavy now). It did us all good to get some fresh air and start feeling more human.
Notes From the Week:
One of the most serendipitous things to come out of this lackluster week of training was when I took Roman to the doctor to get his pink eye checked out. The only appointment was with a newer doctor to their practice, whom we hadn’t seen before. He wasn’t a pediatrician, but I just wanted to get Roman back to normal (read: back to school) asap. The doctor is a naturopath, an acupuncturist and an orthopedist. I asked him if he treated many runners and he told me only about 80% of his patients were runners. Clearly, this was all meant to happen so I could stumble across the best possible primary care doctor for myself, right??
Weekly Mileage:
11.03 miles.
Total Mileage:
137.89
I am here for you anytime mama and so glad you reached out!
I love that this was obviously all meant to be π and that you can get back on track and feeling great this week. Who knows? Maybe even the weather will cooperate! xo

Oh, I hope your boys feel better soon! I know that you’ll get back into training strong this week! Those unplanned cutback weeks just happen, and they’re great for resting up extra and then tackling training hard. Also, I love your positive attitude! You’ve got this π
