On ‘Working (Out) Mama’ on The Stir this week, I wrote about fitness journals. What’s a fitness journal? It just means keeping a log of what you’re doing in the gym, especially for strength training.
As a runner, I’m very used to keeping track of my running workouts and it helps so much in training. As a personal trainer, I have to keep a record of my clients’ progress, both in terms of their assessments and what they can lift, pull and push.
I think it’s an essential tool for everyone who works out – find out why by reading my post, A Fantastic Fitness Secret With No Workout Required. (You may realize at this point that I don’t choose the titles, since I always think a workout is required!! π )
This is the week of the guest post on Fine Fit Day! I’ve had two awesome guest posts so far. One was from Eli King, a trainer and group fitness instructor, who wrote about how to set goals you will actually achieve. Then yesterday as part of the Elf for Health ‘Share your Expertise’ challenge, fellow Elf Allison shared her tips on running in cold weather. (Don’t forget to head to Allison’s blog to read my post on the top 5 reasons strength training is essential for runners!)
On Saturday, I’m super excited to have well-respected running coach and trainer Scott Fishman sharing his expertise in a practical exercise in ensuring your goals for 2014 come to fruition. I’m definitely going to use his advice for my 2014 goals and I will actually be training with Scott for a big running goal next year! (More on that next week).
Then, I am hosting an ABANDONED ELF! One of the elves from our blog swap yesterday did not have her post published, so I offered to host her here! So, lucky readers, you get two weekend posts this week! The elf in question is Sara from Not So Doughie and she’s sharing a delicious-sounding vegetarian recipe. Please visit the blog on Sunday to give Sara some love!
Finally, tomorrow keep a lookout for a big wrap up of Fit Mama Friday for the year! I won’t be posting a Fit Mama Friday story on December 27, but don’t worry, it’s back on Friday, January 3 with Melissa from Fit ‘n Well Mommy!
Do you keep a fitness journal? Has it helped you?
So sweet that you are hosting the abandoned elf!!!
I keep a fitness journal every year and I keep them from year to year. Even though I mention some of my workouts on the blog I still keep it all in writing!!!
Kim recently posted…The Holidays can be a Hard and Lonely Time
I love looking at my old training journals! It feels good to see it all in writing.
