Please meet the newest runner in our family.
Someone had his first big race today. I’m so proud of my little guy. We ‘trained’ all week – he was so excited and every time we would go to the park, I’d say, “Okay, buddy, let’s pretend it’s race day, how fast are you going to run?” and off he would bolt, little legs working overtime.
We even bought a new pair of sneakers. Roman likes to admire them from time to time. π
Mama also ran, I did the 4 mile For The Parks fundraiser race beforehand, in Central Park. More on that in tomorrow’s weekly running log for my half marathon training.
What else went on in our world? We had lunch on Saturday with an old friend we hadn’t seen in a while.
We hung out with friends on Saturday evening for the UConn game. I’m not into basketball at all, but I knew it would be a super fun get together. Also, that cookie? SO amazing.
You know what’s awesome Sunday afternoon fare for after a race?
Pho. YUM.
Β And that was about it! Lots of sunshine this weekend – it’s finally beginning to feel like Spring.Β
Are you into the college basketball?
Who raced this weekend?
What was your favorite part of your weekend?
As a UConn alum, I will be wearing a UConn sweatshirt to work today. Seems I will have two late nights ahead of me! Maybe I can get Jayden to wear his UConn shirt today, too! Congrats on Roman’s first race.
HUSKIES!! I think you and Jayden with your UConn pride clinched it, Judy! π
Hi Carly,
Sounds like a great weekend! I love that Roman ran his first race π My boys got the bug this winter and are excited to race again in May. I love college basketball, especially March Madness. Each year, the entire family fills out brackets. Our youngest won this year π

I love that you guys do family brackets, that’s such a cute idea! Roman was really into racing – I had a feeling, since his favorite thing to do at the playground is to run as fast as he can (usually away from me, ha ha!)
I didn’t race this weekend but I have a half-marathon next SUNDAY!! EEK! I’m nervous and excited!
Jessi, that’s so AWESOME!! I’m excited for you! (The nerves will stop somewhere in the first mile, don’t worry). Is this your first? You’re going to do great!!
Thanks Carly!! π I do always get extra nervous right when the race is starting! It’s my third but I haven’t done one since last April…so while i know I can get through it, I’d like to PR so we shall see! π
You’ll be great!! Good luck for a PR, Jessi!
Back when I was in HS living in CT, I was alllll into college basketball. I think every person from CT is all into basketball since UCONN is so good. I remember even doing class projects in math about the stats of the players.

Stop it! You didn’t do UCONN stats in math class! That’s too funny. I’m happy for all you CT guys they won tonight! π
I LOVE cookie cake. Especially with UConn on it in icing.
I’m not at all a college basketball fan. It’s hardly on my radar. HOWEVER, I have a lot at stake for tonight’s game. My husband, for one, has $900 riding on it within his pool. My father-in-law was a professor there for decades and so was his best friend – and his friend passed away suddenly last week.
And. My new puppy is half husky.

I deliberately didn’t reply until it was over, in case I jinxed it!! Clearly, your new puppy was the tipping point. π
ha, yes! You could not imagine the loudness coming from my house last night. Actually, you probably could!
