We had another lovely visit from our friends living in Montana this weekend. They’re flying back tomorrow and I miss them already. Lishy was Roman’s sitter from when he was just a tiny baby until last year and her girlfriend Emma used to sit for us and dote on Roman too. I love these ladies!
It made me so happy to see Roman as enamored with them as he was when they were part of his everyday life. He snuggled with Emma and reached up to take Lishy’s hand to cross the road. I think I’ve mentioned before that I ask what his three favorite parts of his day were at bedtime each night. Tonight they were:
1. “Having brunch with Lishy and Emma.” (Yes, he said brunch. Yes, we have a New Yorker child).
2. “Going to the park and playing with Gus.” (His favorite buddy)
3. “When Lishy and Emma let me sit in their car.” (OBSESSED with cars.)
Sometimes his three favorite things are stuff like, “When I had ice-cream,” or “When I played with all my trucks,” but when they’re about how much he loves the special people in his life it just makes me so happy.
By the way, “Going to the park and playing with Gus” translates more like, we were in the park and saw our friends and promptly crashed their lunchtime picnic. Roman made himself comfortable very quickly.
We also did a lot of painting this weekend. Earlier in the week Roman had finished off his masterpiece we gave to the girls to take back to Montana with them:
So he decided to start fresh on a new piece. Since it was a stunningly beautiful weekend here, we did some alfresco painting out by the stoop. First on the paper, then on himself.
What made your heart happy this weekend?
Was it alfresco weather where you are?
I am so relieved Roman was able to finish his masterpiece :p Hehe made me laugh. Glad you enjoyed your weekend, the weather has been beautiful….that either means we are just very lucky, or we have a very bad winter coming! What made my heart happy…..when Steve got down on one knee!!!!!!! Ahhhhh still sounds so amazing!

I’m replying late, so you already know how thrilled I am for you and Steve!! π
Yikes – I just read Tina’s comment above – I better head to her site soon!!!
Sounds like you had a truly marvelous weekend. So fun to get to catch up with friends – awesome that Roman picked right up with them like they had never been gone.

It made me so happy! They were such an important part of his life when he was tiny.
Gahh, so cute!!
My pets made my heart happy this weekend. I wasn’t feeling well and my usually-isolationist cat sat and purred on my lap when I was stuck on the couch.

My cats LOVED my bump with Roman. It did freak them out when he kicked, though. Sorry you weren’t feeling well!
Aww!!! He’s totally a connected kid. With a great haircut.
I need to teach “brunch” to Des. It’s my favorite meal, but with kids getting up early, we never seem to hold out for a good brunch without eating something first.
I like brunch to be my first meal of the day. I’m a New Yorker at heart. And 25, apparently.

Ha! His ‘haircut’ is me tackling him with clippers when I’m finally over the shag and him screaming bloody murder. Cutting hair and nails for some reason are his two least favorite things in the world.
