There are so many elements of being pregnant that make working out just a little bit tougher than it is when your body is the same as it’s always been. You have to modify constantly as your body shifts and grows – from your intensity, your workout type, all the way down to your stance in certain exercises, how much water you drink, or the amount of rest you need between sets.
You know what the last thing you want to be doing is? Tugging down at your shirt because it rides up every time you raise your arms. Wearing something so oversized and loose that you have no idea of your form as you watch yourself in the mirror at the gym. Dealing with scratchy tags and fabrics in cheap maternity workout gear (that you end up spending more on in the long run anyway because you keep trying to find the one thing that will work).
So, you know what’s awesome for all you pregnant fit mamas out there? (And all of you who have a pregnant friend who works out?). Since I’m a For Two Fitness® Ambassador, they very kindly not only sent me an awesome maternity workout top to review, they’ve also provided a giveaway top for one of my lucky readers! Woo hoo! 🙂
Before I even got pregnant for a second time, I knew if and when we had another baby, I would apply to be an ambassador to For Two Fitness® – or just buy their clothes. I’ve featured a few gorgeous fit mamas on my Fit Mama Friday series who rocked the For Two® maternity tops – check out Emma, Kelly, Heidi, and Laura, just to name a few.
Why do I love their tops?
They’re cute without being cloying. I would feel ridiculous wearing a ‘Baby on Board’ or ‘Does My Bump Look Fat in This?’ shirt. Basically, pick your workout and you’re doing it for two – Yoga For Two®, Running For Two®, Spinning For Two® – you get the idea.
The material is SUPER soft athletic fabric. It’s the most comfortable workout gear I’ve owned – it really is that soft – but it’s also durable and stands up to repeated sweating and washing.
The colors are great – you can do black or white, of course, but the bright colors they offer are deep, saturated hues. I’ve always felt like this is a sign of good quality in any clothing. Plus, I love wearing bright colors when I’m working out. (Meanwhile, the rest of my everyday maternity wardrobe is grey, black and charcoal. Ha!)
They’re long enough to feel comfortable throughout your workout. Once I have mine on, there’s no tugging or adjusting, at all. Functional and flattering for the win.
They take the guesswork out of it. Once I passed the point of keeping my pregnancy on the down low, it’s not like I felt totally comfortable just announcing out of nowhere I was preggo. And you know NO ONE wants to be the person who asks a non-pregnant woman when she’s due, so there’s this late first/early second trimester void where people wonder if you’ve just put on weight. I bought my Running For Two® tank pretty early on so I could feel comfortable letting my early, tiny bump hang out at the gym or out running without watching anyone’s eyes dart inquisitively to my belly and now I just rock my giant bump at the gym or for an at-home workout. 😉
More About For Two Fitness®
It’s not just tops – you can also buy tights, capris, shorts and headbands.
Twin mamas rejoice – their brand may be For Two®, but they offer For Three logo apparel as well! 🙂
Made in the USA, in the same mills that produce high-end non-maternity activewear. My first pregnancy, I had a few maternity workout tanks that fell apart before I’d even gotten to the end of the third trimester. I can confirm these tops are much higher quality.

I WISH I had known about this brand when I was pregnant (twice). Great to know about this since I get asked about pregnancy clothes often. Thanks!

I’m pregnant and sure am in need of some good quality running clothes! Thanks for sharing, looks like they have some nice stuff!
I have so many friends that would love this! I’d go for the ‘training for two’ shirt since that can encompass all sports.
Yes! I am so tired of wearing my husband’s t shirts to work out. Also these are great pictures of you!
I am pregnant with my first and already one a Running for Two tank, and I love it! I would love to win another one!!
I LOVE the tank top, but would be over the moon to try another shirt 😉

I LOVE them all, but I really love the classic “Running for 2”, even though my running looks more like walking these days!

I really wanted to get the running for two shirt except that I stopped running during pregnancy. Oh well. I would still wear it just to do normal workouts or lounge around in. I am running out of tops that cover the bump fast these days!

I would get the six pack abs logo with the bottles.
I would definitely choose Yoga for two!!
Definitely “Training For Two”
would love the running for two tank! Currently 5 1/2 months pregnant and use the sweating for two long sleeve (which I get tons of compliments on!) but will need the tank because Spring is coming and I plan to run until I deliver:)
