All weekend, instead of blogging, I curled up with Facebook and checked out my NYC friends’ fabulous photos of blizzard adventures. Blizzards in the city are so much fun! Everyone needs a snow day every now and again. So when it got to be Sunday evening and I realized I had nothing scheduled for today…well, consider this my snow day blog post!
Currently…
Listening: To lots more music than usual, thanks to this amazing modern-day invention called the car. If you live in a major city with a massive public transportation system, you may be unfamiliar with them, unless they are yellow and charge you money. I’ve been revisiting old playlists on our iPods and loving the surprise factor of remembering an awesome band or song I was listening to ten years ago that I’d forgotten.
Eating: So healthy, thanks to Laura’s Runner’s Reset I’m following! I’ve tried so many new recipes and found some new favorites. It’s also been a way for me to try out some recipes I’ve pinned and meant to try for ages. We’re wrapping up the reset soon, so look out for a post on what I learned about nutrition in this program.
Drinking: Not alcohol! Fran and I are doing a dry January, which coincided well with this 21-day reset. It took me about 20 days to miss my wine – I’m not going to lie, I’m really looking forward to a glass on February 1st. Right now you’ll most often find me drinking water, licorice tea, or hot water with lemon and spices.
Wearing: I am deep in workout clothes and lounge-wear land. This is actually something I think I’ll add to my goals for this year – to wear ‘real’ clothes more often. Usually it just seems like a pain in the butt to put an actual outfit together and I always justify workout gear by thinking that if I’m home from whatever errand early, I can always just drop everything and go for a run.
Watching: The NY Rangers slow decline. π Also watching Downton Abbey, and (cringing) Vanderpump Rules. I’m not proud of it, people. I blame Fran for sucking me into it. And tomorrow I will watch the new X-Files on DVR – I never missed an episode when it was first on and I’m so excited it’s back.
Feeling: Tired and overwhelmed. Baby T is teething and I’m guessing going through a growth spurt, because for the past couple of weeks he’s been waking in the middle of the night and wants to be nursed back to sleep. Overwhelmed because I feel like I’m juggling a hundred different things for the blog – I have so many ideas and so little time to actually work on them! Anyone want to be my personal assistant or life coach or both (for free)? π
Weather: No snow here! Well, very little, anyway. We will have two frigid days followed by three or four days above freezing. Everyone keeps telling me all of March definitely counts as winter in Vermont, though, so we have plenty of time for the snow to come.
Wanting: To freeze time with these boys of mine. Roman is so close to heading off to school and that just kills me. He’s been my constant companion for such a long time, but I know a new stage is coming when his own world will expand far beyond mama and daddy. I remember like yesterday him being Tanner’s age, which makes me want to cling to Baby T remaining a baby even more.
Needing: More time in the day, please!
Enjoying: Winter running. I’ve never minded running in the cold – I actually prefer it to hot, humid running. I was nervous about the ice and snow, though. Luckily I received an awesome pair of ice spikes to go over my sneakers from Kahtoola and they are a game changer. Mostly I’ve been sticking to the sidewalks and walking paths, but I’ve also tried some snowier areas and running in snow is no joke – such a good workout to keep your momentum and speed. I definitely feel it in different muscles after I run the snowy trails. I’m working on a winter running gear post with a big giveaway soon!

I am so very much with you and don’t want them to freeze time. 10 is perfection. 10 still thinks I’m amazing π 10 also is so smart so funny and independent <3
(((Laughing)))
AutoCorrect is not my friend π it was perfect when I typed and changed when I hit send. I do do you do you want to freeze time π
I do not like running in the cold. So I am thankful I have a treadmill. I did a reset a few yes ago without drinking in January. And yes I couldn’t wait until February 1 either. I am currently drinking tea with honey. Not sure if it’s that good bc of the sugar in honey but it surely is tasty and made me feel better when I was a bit under the weather the other wk.

I really enjoy running in the cold as well. Last year in NYC was a trouble but still logged in a few good miles, here in London I have to admit i am amazed. Apart from a little rain now and then the weather has been very nice – wintery but still sunny and not freezing. Pleasant surprise π I love hot water and lemon too, try it with ginger and a hint of chilli powder or cayenne pepper.
P.S: I am amazed every time i read about this two cuties of yours. You make me feel like motherhood is an unbelievable feeling and that makes me a little less scared to have one (maybe two) when i am done with my PhD. Have an awesome week!

I’ve been watching all the snow pics and wondering what it would be like to run in snow…..just once. I’ve entered taper and pretty damn happy….but knowing that I’m going to start getting nervous about taper and need to fight the temptation to run more.

OMG no alcohol for all of January? You guys are brave! I would love to join you for that first glass on Feb 1st π
I will also be watching X-Files and cannot wait. I hope it’s as amazing as I want it to be!
And yes, if we could freeze time, that would be wonderful. They all grow up way, way, way too fast.

Funny, I did a Currently post too!
We got NO snow. I couldn’t believe seeing people’s updates. We’re New England. We’re supposed to get big snow. Not NYC! So strange, but I’m glad.
I’m currently eating a chocolate heart and drinking water! So exciting here.

Real clothes are overrated. Activewear is where it’s at. And the fact that I’m making and selling activewear really doesn’t make any difference to that statement. I’m just getting on the band wagon.
