Bless Fran’s cotton socks, he has become my in-house photographer (literally) for all my workout posts. We are much less snippy with each other during these photo shoots, so either he’s getting better, or I’m getting more patient. This week on my Working (Out) Mama column on The Stir, I put together a great workout of 7 exercises using only an exercise ball: 7 Exercise Ball Workouts That Will Rock Your Body
Give this a try and tell me what you think! I’m a big fan of taking one piece of equipment and creating a whole workout with it – it’s perfect for when the gym is busy and you want to get your workout done without waiting for equipment or getting in anyone’s way. Of course, you can do this workout in your living room as well, if you have a Swiss ball. (Note: 2 year olds think exercise balls are enormous fun).
Just in case you missed this week’s workout post on the best exercises to relieve back pain, check it out here!
And here’s some weekend reading for you – a few of my favorite posts recently:
Great post about the idea of Detox Tea for Weight Loss, from Helen at Food and Nonsense: Detox Tea for Weight Loss?
Every runner will relate: Why You Should Be A Member Of The Running Community, from Cori at Olive to Run.
Thought-provoking look at surfing, life and overcoming fear, from Christine at Love Life Surf: Paddling For Position.
Any parent of a 2 year old will tell you this describes them perfectly: On the Cusp, from Nicole at Work in Sweats Mama.
I’m pretty new to Tamara’s blog Fit Knit Chick, but I’m so glad I found it. She is one smart personal trainer. Loved this post: 5 Reasons to Periodize Your Workouts.
Kim at Day With KT is doing one post of all her 44 exercises from the week and I’m loving this format! Here’s her post on a week’s worth of planks – you know I’m a plank fan. ๐ Planks, Planks and More Planks.
Anyone who watched Meb win the Boston Marathon will agree with this post: 5 Reasons to Get Pumped for Competitive Running, from Nick Hilton’s column on the iRunner blog.
Thoseย should keep you entertained ย – enjoy your weekend! ๐

I love taking one piece of equipment and coming up with a whole workout just using that – it’s a great way to get creative in the gym. ๐
I love that exercise ball move. It’s one of those exercises you feel the next day! Have a great weekend, Carly!

I know, it seems so innocuous, just a giant inflatable ball, but it really does work you out!
Thanks for the love. Hope you’re having a great weekend!
