Road trip!
We set off Friday night to visit our friends Chris and Jen (and their adorable son) in sunny Philadelphia this weekend. We used to be practically neighbors in Brooklyn, which we discovered when Chris and I met attending the same personal training school. They’ve been in Philly for a few years now, but this is only our second visit (so sad!).
Our Brooklyn weekend hangouts were filled with lots of this:
And, obviously, this weekend was no different. A little cheese and red wine is good for the soul. π
Roman joined his little buddy at a big kid birthday party on Saturdayβ¦at a FIRE HOUSE! We told him about this planned trip on Tuesday and he had been talking about it non-stop ever since. “I drive the fire truck today, Mama? When are we going to fire trucks?” As you can see, it was not a disappointment:
He and his friend got along great, thanks in part to lots and lots of trucks and toys:
While I got my long run out of the way on Friday before we left, I still managed to get out for a lovely run in the woods while I was there. It was so beautiful.
And after brunch and running and fire trucks and fun, we all felt a little like this by the time we got home:
When was the last time you did a weekend road trip?
Do you like running in new places, or do you prefer your familiar stomping grounds?
What did you want to be when you grew up?
What a great weekend! I think you have a fireman on your hands!
I wanted to be a ballerina when I was little until I was not so little!
Cheese and red wine are always good for the soul!

He’s OBSESSED. We have a firehouse a block away from us as well and he’s always asking to visit. Cheese and red wine are good for everything!!
Looks like a great weekend!!
I thought I liked running in new places but the area I’m staying in right now isn’t really working for a run exploration – too many busy roads and I have no idea how to avoid them!

Cities are tough for running when you’re not with someone who knows the place. I’ve done loops of quieter streets when I’ve stayed in busy places, but that gets kind of boring.
Oh, what fun! We just had a road trip, actually. It was just the two of us which was rare, and awesome. I love road trips.
I prefer new places when I’m in the right mood, but during anxiety periods, same places!

I’ve already forgotten what traveling sans child is like, and Roman is only two! Glad you guys had a lovely getaway. π
Your road trip looks like a lot of fun. I went on a lot of road trips as a child and have fond memories of those days…

I love road trips! My family took a lot of weekend road trips when I was a kid as well, and I loved them then as well.
