The Best Online Options for Working Out at Home

Most of us are getting used to the idea that working out at home is something we are going to have to adapt to in order to maintain our fitness and strength during this stay-at-home time. Of course, there are many who have been at-home workout devotees for years – if you have the space and the resources, it’s easy to set up a workout area in your own home. (Here’s a guide to gear that will help you set up at-home fitness – no matter how modest your budget). The issue, of course, is figuring out exactly what to do. If you’re used to using machines, or equipment you simply don’t have access to anymore, it can be difficult to come up with a new plan that suits this new lifestyle. Motivation also comes into play so much more when you are working out at home. It’s easier to let it slide, or not work out as hard as you might if you were in a gym or a class, with other people and instructors or trainers there to keep you accountable.

And for knowing what to do? That’s where this list comes into play. Check out these apps and websites that offer online classes of all kinds, that can be catered to whatever fitness level you need. And of course, I highly recommend following my club’s Facebook page, where our instructors are offering classes and workout ideas for when you’re stuck at home!

Peloton App

It’s not just if you have the bike – the Peloton app is a streaming service that offers cycling classes, as well as yoga, general fitness classes, strength-training classes and more! And right now, it is free for a 90-day trial – 3 months of working out at home for free!

Barre Options On Demand

Missing your regular Barre class? It might be worth trying the Pure Barre on demand – right now they are offering a week free and then it’s $30/month. Down Dog Barre is an app that is currently offering through May for free – this one I have used, I like that you can customize it to make it the exact type of workout you want. (P.S. Down Dog also offers a yoga app and a HIIT app!)

Grokker Online

Grokker Online is offering a 45-day free trial right now and then it is $15/month to continue. I had the chance a few years ago to try out this service when it was launching – you can read my review here!

Nike Training Club

Not just running! Nike Training Club offers all kinds of workouts – running, strength, yoga, bodyweight and more. And right now, it’s free until further notice!

FitOn

FitOn is FREE. Like free-free, no trial period and then you get charged, it is really free. It has a ton of workouts available at all different lengths and level of ability (and access – or not – to equipment). It is definitely worth trying out!

Daily Burn

Another option with a 30-day free trial offered (and then it’s $15/month), Daily Burn has thousands of videos available in just about every fitness genre.

Qinetic

Qinetic offers live-streaming classes, as well as a workout library of classes you can do any time. They offer a lot of yoga and cardio dance-style workouts, but there are some strength-training workouts too. Best part? It’s free!

I hope this round up helps you try some new workouts! Don’t forget, walking, running and hiking are all activities you can do anytime for cardio – these online options are just great ways to mix it up and try some new ways of exercising when you don’t have access to strength training or fitness classes in person. Stay well, stay healthy, and move your body.
