With only ten days left in the year (!), it’s time to take a look back at 2015 on Fine Fit Day. I’ve already summed up my year of running, now it’s time to see what the most popular posts were on the blog this year.
I’m taking the rest of the week off to enjoy the holiday with my boys (and also because I am planning a menu, shopping and cooking for Christmas Day), but I will be back on Monday for another couple of posts before 2015 draws to a close. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas with family and friends, or a lovely long weekend of relaxing and fun for those who don’t celebrate Christmas.

Most popular post: 10 Things You DON’T Want to Say to a Runner
This post was so much fun to write! If you know me, you know my humor has a definite sarcastic streak to it, which I didn’t hold back on when writing this list of annoying things people say to runners (and great comebacks for them).
Runner Up: Running Tips: When to Choose the Treadmill
There were a lot of times at the beginning of the year when I had to make the decision to run outside, or take it to the treadmill. We had a brutal winter and conditions were occasionally icy even when the roads and sidewalks had been cleared and salted and since I had a new person growing inside, I had to be more cautious than usual. That’s what sparked the idea to write this post.

Most Popular Post: Running Tips: Running Through Pregnancy
Honestly, even when I’m not pregnant, I’d be happy writing a variation on this theme every month. It’s so important for women to continue working out and staying active during pregnancy. If I can encourage just one pregnant mama to keep fit and exercise throughout her pregnancy, it’s worth it. This post gave specific tips for the pregnant runner before running, during your run and afterwards.
Runner Up: 5 Reasons to do Prenatal Yoga
I guess February was pregnancy blogging month, huh? You know I loved my prenatal yoga classes and these were all the reasons why I think it’s such a beneficial practice while you’re pregnant.
March
Most Popular Post: The Quest to Lose 10 Pounds in 6 Weeks – Week One
The most viewed and interacted with post for March wasn’t even written by me! My husband Fran had just had a physical and was told by his doctor he needed to lose 10 pounds before he came in for a follow-up appointment. I thought blogging publicly about the weight loss quest might help keep him accountable and he agreed. And you guys loved him! He loved you right back, the support was phenomenal. This was his first of a series – you can read the whole archive here.
Runner Up: 3 Life Changing Pieces of Advice
Funnily enough, I originally pitched this as a guest post for another blog, but realized it was just personal enough that it would work way better for my own. So I came up with an alternative topic for my guest piece and published this on Fine Fit Day. I’m glad I did, because it’s one of the posts I’m most proud of.
April
Most Popular Post: Welcome Baby Tanner
No surprise, my most popular post this month was Baby T’s arrival. Given I was convinced baby would arrive by the end of March, by April 16 I was a grumpy mess. Here is his birth story.
Runner Up: A tie! Running Tips: 8 Tips for Mastering the Long Run
Even though I was obviously not doing any crazy long runs anymore, I was missing them! I started thinking back to when a 10 mile or longer run would not have been a big deal for me to do and wondering to myself if there was a tipping point for that becoming just part of your weekly workout. I decided that as well as just consistently incorporating a long run into your week, these 8 tips also helped make it less intimidating to go out and run long.
Second Runner Up: 15 Frequently Asked Questions: Running During Pregnancy
I got asked everything. These were questions I got often (not always from women!) so I thought it would be fun and informative to answer them all in one place.

Most Popular Post: On Life With Two Boys, One Month Postpartum
Oh boy, I was a wreck. Terrified of taking both boys out together, worried I wouldn’t be able to keep tabs on my crazy three year old if I had to nurse Baby T at the park, wondering when my last shower was, also wondering where my next coffee was…this was a let-it-all-out kind of post.
Runner Up: I can’t pick just one! I had so many amazing blogging friends write fabulous guest posts for me this month. I was honored that each of these wonderful women took the time out of their own schedule to write some great posts for Fine Fit Day.

Most Popular Post: Instagram Secrets – Behind the Scenes of my Instagram Feed
I totally stole this idea from Christine and Allie and I’m so glad I did because it was a lot of fun to put together! Every blogger has a ‘B’ roll of about 100 photos for every one great shot they share on Instagram. Those Instagram husbands have to delete apps for space for a reason. 😉
Runner Up: 10 Reasons Running a Marathon is Crazy…Crazy Awesome, that is!
I am so ready to tackle this distance again! You hear a lot about the blood, sweat, tears and sacrifice behind training for and running a marathon, but I wanted to share all the positive reasons it is such a wonderful experience.

Most Popular Post: Are You Cheating at Running?
This post was my most popular post of the year. I shared some of the ways runners could be giving themselves an unfair advantage – usually without realizing – and asked whether it should be considered cheating.
Runner Up: 8 Essential Stretches for Runners
Because everyone feels better after a good stretch.

Most Popular Post: Worrying Doesn’t Work – So I’m Taking a Huge Leap
We took an unexpected life change as an impetus to fulfill a long-held desire to move to Vermont. Basically since we had kids, it had been in the back of our minds that we wanted to get out of NYC before school began in earnest. But every time we talked about it, it seemed like the wrong time. But there’s never a right time, is there? So we just signed a lease and booked some movers!
Runner Up: The Stress-Free Diet
In which my toddler was away with Daddy for four days and I didn’t yell once and I lost weight without trying. You think there might be a stress-weight link there?
September
Most Popular Post: All of the Feelings. Goodbye New York City
I actually haven’t re-read this since I published it (I’m afraid of getting choked up all over again) but needless to say, leaving a place that was home for 15 years, where you met and married your husband, where you had your babies and took them home…it’s hard to say goodbye.
Runner Up: Baby and Me Yoga
Baby T and I had the best time in baby yoga. Just like the prenatal classes I loved so much, it was such a lovely, calm, fun time in my week to get my Om on with my littlest one.

Most Popular Post: 20 Ways Living in Vermont is Totally Different from Living in NYC
Why are people so nice up here? What do they want?? And other musings from the move from NYC to VT.
Runner Up: How to Recharge Your Workout (using an unexpected source)
As a fitness professional and a writer, I like to keep up with articles with tips and development for both careers. It was when I was reading some tips on boosting your writing creativity that I realize, ‘Hey! This could easily be transferred to working out!’ If you feel like you’re at a bit of a plateau, or bored with your workout, see if these writing tips help you break through.

Most Popular Post: Trainer Tips: How Many Sets and How Many Reps?
This is one of the big things I see most people being confused about in the gym – how many sets and reps should I do? It’s so easy to just find a workout online or in a magazine and do it without thinking, but if you have just enough knowledge about how to program appropriately for your own workout, you can make it more streamlined for your goals.
Runner Up: Another tie! Real Life Bucket List
Did you ever think of something as a bucket list item and then realize you probably wouldn’t actually want to do them? I took a hard look at a few of my bucket list experiences and wondered if I just thought I should have them on my bucket list.
Second Runner Up: Running Tips: How to Become a Morning Runner
Here I mapped out four key ways you can set yourself up to get out of bed and straight into your run in the morning. If you struggle with early morning workouts, this is a good post to read.
December
Most Popular Post: My Year of Running 2015
I love reading all the Year of Running posts, so it doesn’t surprise me in the least that this was my most popular post in December. It can be eye-opening to look back on your year of running and racing and maybe make a few connections about why your year turned out the way it did.
Runner Up: Kale Salad with Almonds, Feta and Cherries
I made this salad at Thanksgiving, then made it again a couple of times to get the recipe right and photograph it. And I’m making it again for Christmas dinner! It’s a delicious, light side dish to have as an alternative (or as well as) all the usual suspects of sides over the holidays.
I hope you enjoyed this little glimpse back into the last 12 months of Fine Fit Day! It’s always interesting to me to see which posts resonate most with my readers (plus it gives me an idea of the direction to take for the new year).
Happy, happy, joy, joy to all! I’ll be back on Monday next week!
What. A. Year. For. You.
As I realize 2016 for me may mean an end to blogging — I read posts like yours and smile for the future of blogging anyway 🙂
Carla recently posted…Mama, Im so strong!
Nooo!! Your voice would be so missed, Carla. You make us think, laugh and act.
I’m happy to say that I read almost ALL of these! What an amazing way to recap your incredible year. Enjoy your time off, try not to get too crazy about Christmas (just try 🙂 and I will see you on the other side my friend!! Biggest HUGS and KISSES for the best end of 2015 and cheers to new beginnings…
Allie recently posted…The Rundown – End of the Year Clearance
Happy Happy to you too, ladycake! I am definitely going to take it easy over Christmas (although I have to admit I have trolled Pinterest for Christmas dinner recipes, ha ha! No Christmas cupcakes with homemade frosting for me, though.)
Great year Carly! I remember a lot of these posts. It is so fun to go back and reminisce, especially because you were pregnant in the first part of the year and then you had a little baby in the second part. So many big changes!
Britt@MyOwnBalance recently posted…A Brazilian Baptism at the Beach
I know! And now you’re the mama of a toddler, too! (Although I still called Roman my ‘baby’ until Tanner came along and made me realize how enormous he had become). 🙂
What an awesome year you had! I pinned many of these posts to my Running board. I love that they are real and authentic! Happy Holidays to you and your beautiful family, Carly!

Oh thank you so much! You know I love Pinterest! Hope you guys had a wonderful holiday, too. I’m sure your boys received as much Lego as Roman did…!!
